Sail Port Stephens 2019

When: Monday 8 – Sunday 14 April 2019
Where: Port Stephens, NSW

Excitement is building for 12th annual Sail Port Stephens regatta! The Flagstaff Marine team and Beneteau owners will be out in force, with some of the latest models competing.

The iconic Commodores Cup is held over the first three days, followed by a lay-day to allow crews to enjoy the region’s many attractions. Racing then heats up for the final three days, both inshore and off, with the Pantaenius Port Stephens Trophy.

Beneteaus out in force

With the Beneteau fleet out in force against the beauty of the Port Stephens waterway, there is nothing like this event, known as the Grand Finale of the racing season.

The Flagstaff team and owners will be competing, including two of our new performance models, Oceanis 41.1P ‘Freedom’ and the award-winning Oceanis 51.1 FIRST Line ‘Wilde Rush’.

Seeking FIRST Line Honours

Seeking FIRST Line Honours

Oceanis FIRST Line 51.1 ‘Wilde Rush’ will be competing at Port Stephens for the first time.

The Oceanis 51.1 FIRST line is fitted with an extra-long mast delivering additional sail area in high-tech materials. Harken deck fittings and a deep lead-bulb keel reduce drag in this high performance configuration.

The popular NEW Oceanis 51.1 was awarded ‘Cruiser of year’ at both the 2018 China Sail Awards and British Sail Awards. Optimised for performance, the NEW Oceanis 51.1 FIRST Line promises new sailing sensations.

Harken deck fittings and a deep lead-bulb keel reduce drag in this new generation performance cruiser. A composite steering wheel and top-of-the-range boomsprit marry speed and cruising. The hull with redans releases exceptional interior volumes, and a multitude of clever fittings guarantee easy navigation in total comfort. Perfect for competitive racing but also delivering mile after mile of high speed coastal cruising.

Oceasis 41.1P - Freedom on the water

New owner Steve Smith is looking forward to his first Port Stephens experience on the Oceanis 41.1P ‘Freedom’.

As a seasoned sailor and twilight racer, Steve loves the versatility offered by the layout of the Oceanis 41.1P.

One of the things that is outstanding is that the centre console on this vessel is minimalist,” says Steve. “It doesn’t have the bulk of the cruising size yacht table but it’s offset and allows coming and going easily down the port side. And the way it’s set up on the starboard side is where we’re going to have the main winch for the halyard and also for the mainsheet, you see.

A flawless win

A flawless win

The Oceanis 41.1P is a flawless win win. Perfect if you want to win around the buoys … and also perfect if you want to win the family over to come sailing with you.

The clever Finot-Conq hull design combined with a taller mast, racing rigging and deep keel, delivers consistent, exciting performance both up and downwind.
